Sussex in May?

My musical partner Kate Barfield has been offered some street theatre work in Brighton on Sat May 8. now that's a long way to go for one daytime gig, so we thought we might come down together and have a look around. Anyone know anything going on down there a day or two each side of that? Gigs available? private parties? Money or fun is what we are after, preferably both.

Vectis runs a folk club at Seaford on a Friday.

And Breton Cap lives down that way, you could try PM-ing him as he doesn't come here all that often, I don't think

Also check out the Brighton Festival in full swing - actually the Brighton Fringe, which is far more fun www.brightonfestivalfringe.org.uk

I'll just barely miss you, as I'll be in Sussex on 3 and 4 May....sorry.

I think fun might be easier to come by than money.

http://whatson.brighton.co.uk/folk/ will eventually give you some pointers, although they haven't got May on the site yet.

The Lewes Arms Folk Club (at Lewes, not surprisingly) has this:
MAY 8 THE TRANSPORTS produced by Don Morgan
Songs from Peter Bellamy's folk opera performed by local singers & musicians. Floor singers welcome too.

On Monday 10 May there's a traditional tunes session at the Cricketers, Broadwater, Worthing.

Hope you find something going on - Brighton should be pretty lively at that time.

Marje

Thank you Marje. Youre right, fun is often easier to find than money, but the life of the strolling musician does just occasionally throw up opportunities to find both commodities in the same place at the same time. Luckily!
