I heard that the mud cat outage this afternoon might have bben due to a problem encountered from a link contained in some message? I think it was down for 6-8 hours....can any one provide background info? and if
there was some infected link, what was it? I wonder if i may have been affected, effected , infected, injected, rejected...etc.??

i hear the suspicious message/thread has been deleted...
it posed as a lyric search question or something?
what was it about and how do we know if we "caught" anything from it?

Hi, open mike - it was a link that led to an installer of a spyware music program.

It was a thread called "Tech: Searching for Songs by Lyrics," and it said that if you followed the link, you would find
A simple tool to find the name of a song when given a snippet of the lyrics. Not fool-proof by any means, but often quite effective.
The program installed by the link was N-Case, which is described in this thread.

No, it wouldn't have anything with Mudcat being down, and it's fairly unlikely that you installed the program on your computer. If you didn't follow the link, you probably didn't get anywhere near the offending program.

So, not to worry.
