13 Apr 04 - 11:00 AM (#1160817) Subject: RE: BS: In search of the 2nd ark - BOOK From: Donuel I did over twenty versions of this flying ark from its construction to waiting in the rain for a tortoise. I have been toying with the idea of an illustrated book of stories that didn't make it into the bible for some time. They touch on issues of limited resources, exctinctions, predjudice, greed and all around general absent mindedlness. If you have any ideas of stories that God forgot (probably on purpose) let me know since I am not trying to to do a parody of the bible as much as do a comedy of embarrasing errors the bible would not want to have included. "Jonah's ark is nearly done" I like the concept of an obvious solution to a problem is within reach but people throw up their hands and ask for a miracle --- only to have a somewhat misconstrued answer to their prayers. The moral to this kind os story is if you want something done right, do it yourself . But any amusing story ideas will do. If it is a complete story I would love to credit each and every author. Afterall many authors would be in keeping with the theme. Kat, Amos, Lhawk, CarolC come to mind as prolific so if you don't have a good story off hand let someone know who might. I will include some more pics later, on this biblical theme that are more beautiful than the one above. This could comedicly appeal to believers and athiests alike. ?! |

13 Apr 04 - 12:18 PM (#1160932) Subject: RE: BS: In search of the 2nd ark From: CarolC I saw several possible meanings in your illustration, Donuel, but I have to admit that the one you seem to be suggesting never occurred to me. I was thinking that you might have been intending that the 2nd ark might need to be an underwater ark because of nuclear fallout, for instance. I didn't get that you meant it to be a flying ark. Could you tell us what your meaning is for that illustration, or do prefer to let each person see what they want to in it? |

13 Apr 04 - 01:27 PM (#1160996) Subject: RE: BS: In search of the 2nd ark From: Donuel I think your interpretation is superior. I am sure Jules Verne would agree. When I make pictures I often let go and look for meaning later. Presenting a series of illustrations without a story could be more engaging but I like to laugh so comedy is my favorite interpretation. The Twillight Zone often relied on comedy as much as a tragic twist of fate. http://www.angelfire.com/md2/customviolins/no3da.jpg http://www.angelfire.com/md2/customviolins/no6b.jpg |

I am think about getting the full 3Dmax for about $500 which is no where near its actual retail price. |

But it was suggested to us by my son, who is in film school, so that's why we got it. |

13 Apr 04 - 04:20 PM (#1161121) Subject: RE: BS: In search of the 2nd ark From: Donuel Over the years half the story got lost It was told but they called him a liar. A story of labor, savior and cost. Its the story of Jonah and his flier... Jonah you are to build an ark. Coat the timbers with nautilus shell. It will act as an ageless bark. You will save all of us from hell. With a papyrus blueprint and ambition Jonah set to work. Toiling from midnight to the noon day sun. But there was a quirk. The goat ate the instructions. Lord, I am done said Jonah. No you are not, where the the engines? You need it to save flower and fauna. Oh God, damit can't you do a miracle? I'm not saying its your fault but comon. An object then appeared flat and spherical. On the beach were parts most uncommon. The storm was gathering and clouds loomed dark The wind of the engine made a peculiar song Jonah waited for the tortoise before they embark Could he have waited too long. Before the door could close a wave swamped the deck. They glided to the bottom of a shallow sea By morning Jonah left the air pocket and began the story we now see. All the nautilus were lost building the boat. Jonah was saved by the whale. The tortoise swam and learned to float. The ark did not age or grow pale. Then one day the sea gave up its secrets the shallow sea was now deeper. The age is clear from carbon 14 wood cuts. The story is now for the seeker.
