15 Apr 04 - 01:09 PM (#1162520) Subject: Market Rasen August 27th to 30th From: Rasener Market Rasen normally holds a bikers weekend on the above dates. This has fallen through, and I was asked by the development committee if I would be able to set soemthing up for that weekend. I am running my Folk Club on Friday 27th August. I suggested a folk weekend. What I want to know from you mudcatters, is what the possibilties are about running something like that over the weekend. I don't think there is a lot of money around, but if I know what I am dealing with, I can go back to them, and see what can be done. I realise that free camping for artists playing and stewards and security and free entrance to all events is a must. Is anything possible? Any support in this would be wonderful, and help to put Market Rasen on the map from the folk point of view. Cheers Les |

16 Apr 04 - 03:35 AM (#1162917) Subject: RE: Market Rasen August 27th to 30th From: GUEST,georgiansilver Come on FOLKS, here is a chance to get recognised or at least put something into the Folk scene by helping out someone who is trying to put it firmly on the Lincolnshire map. Who is holidaying in Lincolnshire at that time and fancies giving up a day to sing/watch/help......Lincolnshire is great for holidays so if you are into Folk and have not booked your 2004 hols yet, what about it???? |

El Greko You could always tell Andrew you can't make it. :-) LOL Only joking Andrew. Second thoughts why don't both of you come up here instead, got some spaces left for marshalls :-) Would be less knackering up here, unless you wanted to play golf at our wonderful golf club. Thanks for responding though. |
16 Apr 04 - 07:38 AM (#1163039) Subject: RE: Market Rasen August 27th to 30th From: Rasener Just to update on this thread. I am now in discussions with somebody who runs a very succesful blues club in this area, and there is a very strong possiblity that it could become a Folk and Blues weekend or Blues and Folk weekend. I have to go back to the development council with my plans and if they are accepted then we have lift off. |

28 Apr 04 - 07:33 AM (#1173092) Subject: RE: Market Rasen August 27th to 30th From: Rasener Latest info is:- The committee have in principle agreed to to doing it. Unfortunately, they are so involved with a May week at Market Rasen (1st May to 9th May), that they haven't got the time of day until May 10th. So Things should move a bit quicker after that. If I manage to get my wicked way, it will be held at the Market Rasen Race Course, where lots of facilites are available. Artists would have free camping with evening security and a lock up room if artists want to leave their instruments locked up. Huge amount of parking facilities and additional public camping area. |
