For the expatriate Australian, and for fellow lovers of choccie biccies, I hereby announce that Tesco's are stocking Tim Tams in 3 varieties. Original Chocolate, Double Dip Chocolate, and my own personal favourite, Chewy Caramel. Think of the money I could have saved if I'd discovered this prior to October 2003.

I don't eat Tim Tams any more. Arnotts is no longer Aussie owned, and when DIck Smith tried to bring out an imitation (imitation being the sincerest form of lfattery! [no, that typo can stay in view of the product!]) he was taken to court endlessly. Finally he resorted to 'meida ridicule': holding up packets of the original and his product asking if they looked so similar in packaging that consumers could be misled inot thinking that the packing was identical...

I sincerely hope that Tim Tams never make it to the states, or both Judy and I would stray dangerously from the South Shore diet.

I assume Tesco's is safely remote from our shores.

Addictive aren't they? Sort of more-ish. Tesco's is in the UK Charley, but I can send you some,

BTW Charley, Arnotts who make Tim Tams now belongs to Campbells of soup fame, so I'm sure they'll be there.

There are several varieties of Tim Tams including Original, Chewy Caramel, Mocha, Double Coat and Classic Dark Chocolate and a constantly changing range of special edition varieties.

The existence of the Tim Tam has given rise to the phemomena of the Tim Tam Slam or Tim Tam Explosion. This practice basically involves biting off opposing corners of the Tim Tam (which is a oblong shaped biscuit) and then using it as a 'straw' to suck up a hot beverage (usually tea or coffee) and then, just before the biscuit falls apart, it is placed in the mouth. The sensation of the Tim Tam 'exploding' in the mouth has been described by some as a near orgasmic pleasure and leads to very fast consumption of biscuits. Connoisseurs believe the Chewy Caramel variety is best for performing the Tim Tam Slam since the caramel centre helps to hold the biscuit together for a slightly longer time.

A Tim Tam Slam has been sucessfully performed by Natalie Imbruglia on the Graham Norton television series in the United Kingdom.

The Tim Tam Slam is usually only performed in private between consenting adults - the result is not pretty -
