24 Apr 04 - 09:06 AM (#1169663) Subject: Eddie Upton / The Trugs From: Lancashire Lad I'm desperately trying to get hold of an LP Eddie Upton made when a member of a Sussex 4 piece called the Trugs. The album was called "And Boldly Go to Sea". Would anyone happen to have a copy they would sell? Alternately could anyone make me a copy on tape or CDR?. I will pay ANY price as I need to get this for a good friend who lost his copy many years ago and still misses it dearly. It would be the highlight of his birthday If I could help him out. Thanks LL PS. and I did mean ANY price |

23 Apr 06 - 10:44 AM (#1725293) Subject: RE: Eddie Upton / The Trugs From: Saro Dave Robertson, who was one of the Trugs (usually on the bass line), is still alive and well and singing in the Norwich area. Maggie is alive and well too, but just not singing, alas. Dave now sings with June Thain, well worth hearing the two of them. |

23 Apr 06 - 12:59 PM (#1725382) Subject: RE: Eddie Upton / The Trugs From: Tradsinger Colin Andrews moved from Sussex to Devon many years ago. He is still very active in the folk world. He does a lot of calling and he set up the Winkleigh Morris. He is still an excellent singer. Tradsinger |

28 Apr 06 - 02:26 PM (#1729361) Subject: RE: Eddie Upton / The Trugs From: GUEST,Colin Andrews As one of the original Trugs,I can say that only 100 LPs were pressed on the Tradition Label. The master tapes are now in the possession of Fellside Records - and includes one track, The Wimborne Valentine, which did not appear on the original record. As we have lived in diferent parts of the country for many years (Eddie & I in the South West of England, David & Maggie Robertson in Norfolk, we have met only rarely - last 'singing' reunion was in Sussex about 8 years ago. 'Humphrey Hough' was a song from the Michael Blann songbook. I'm currently undertaking a major revision of my book about Michael Blann & his songs, originally published in 1979. The new edition with have an accompanying CD of most of the songs from Blann's notebook. |
