30 Apr 04 - 05:20 AM (#1174775) Subject: RE: TGO Challenge anyone? From: Dave Hanson I wish people would start talking fecking English again instead of talking bloody mobile phone text speak and sodding abbreviations, which mean nothing to anyone not in the know. Am I alone in not having a mobile phone ? eric |

30 Apr 04 - 01:45 PM (#1175153) Subject: RE: TGO Challenge anyone? From: John J Sorry Eric, but TGO is the current name of the mag and isn't bloody mobile phone text speak and sodding abbreviations. However I share your dislike of the violations of our wonderful language. What worries me greatly is the falling standard of spelling. 'Text-speak' doesn't encourage correct spelling, nor does it do anything to promote correct use of grammar. Guest: I'm walking from Mallaig > Tomdoun > Fort Augustus > Laggan > Dalwhinnie > Braemar > Tarfside > Montrose. You're absolutely correct; Scotland is big....in fact it's bloody enormous! Cheers all, John |
