28 Apr 04 - 12:00 PM (#1173226) Subject: Payne & O'Byrne in England From: McGrath of Harlow That's Jim Payne and Fergus O'Byrne, from Newfoundland for a couple of weeks - and here is a page about them, witn a music sample link. I'm hoping to get along tonight to a concert they're doing in Harlow (The ARC, Old Harlow, 8pm, £7, with a bar) - we've got a campus of St John's University in the town, which should ensure a few Nefoundlanders in the audience. Haven't come across them before - but the music link on that link I gave there promises a good evening - and they sound well worth looking for on their tour over here.(Details of venues are here.) |

28 Apr 04 - 02:22 PM (#1173348) Subject: RE: Payne & O'Byrne in England From: Jack the Sailor Fergus is an Irisman by birth and a founding member of Ryan's Fancy. He is easily one of my favourite traditional singers. Jim is a singer songwriter with a penchant for Newfoundland History. I am unfamiliar with St. John's University, but when I went there, Memorial University Of Newfoundland had a campus in Harlow. |
