Stewards Required - Middlewich Festival

At the risk of annoying the organisers of Beverley Festival I felt obliged to say that stewards are also required at Middlewich Folk & Boat Festival on the 18th, 19th, 20th June.

At Middlewich Stewards are asked to be on duty for about 4 hours a day (2 hrs on the Friday) and they receive a pass for each day that they are on duty - camping is free to all anyway.

Stewards forms can be downloaded from www.middlewichfestival.org

I am happy to try and set the rota to fit around particular concerts and events that people want to see/be at.

Ian.

Steward?

Basically stewards have to sit on doors, check tickets, refuse entry to those without tickets, politely ask those making a noise outside the door to quieten down, make sure people leave in an orderly manner in the event of a fire alarm. Simple stuff, unless you have skills like first aid then it is a different deal.
The other thing is, that stewards are still stewards (regardless of rosta times) for the pupose of emergencies like evacuation of the building. Basically in those times all responsible people have to play their part but stewards are duty bound. At least most festivals I know require that.
Stewarding can get in the way of what you want to see, but as compensation I have a lot of fun stewarding.

Ely Folk Weekend are looking for stewards BTW

Stewarding is great fun, and if you get in the 'groove' as it were, you get offered all sorts of other festivals you wouldn't usually go to!

I've stewarded one festival for 8 years running now, it's great fun, you get to wear a snazzy yellow hi-vis jacket and play with a walkie talkie!

My unique skills also got me the job of Artist Liason (basically I was the only one who always had a notepad, always had a sticky plaster and knew where to find a table from nowhere), which is fantastic - you get to see just who are the true artistes and who are the "divas" of the folk world.... (For the record, the easiest was Tony Benn, who only needed the table, he brought his own flask of tea.)

It can be as boring as you make it, if you like sitting around with a mug of tea, telling people where to go, it's a job for you!
