We particularly want people to come along to the first fund-raising ceilidh on 14 May, as we need cash money for stamps and such, quite apart from the usual buying of advertising and licenses. It will be an excellent evening, and will besides feature me reprising my old job as barman; provided, of course, that the local magistrates decide that Jim is a fit and proper person (technical term) to be allowed to sell alcohol.

Well it seems that they have agreed Jim is a fit and proper person to at least apply for the selling of alcohol and they have met him

no wonder the british judicial system is in decline!!

I resemble that remark. i have ben asked if I understand my duties and responsibilities a. not to serve childers b. not to serve drunks c. not to serve after the permitted time.
