11 May 04 - 11:56 AM (#1182955) Subject: RE: Manchester Session 21/05/04 From: Pied Piper Thanks very much Bernard. Yes the landlord and landlady have changed; it's now run (or will be from Friday of this week) by the couple that did a great job at the Pot of Bear just round the corner. The Pot is for sale for 400 grand so I think it's had it's chips as a pub. We had are last session in the Pot last night and will be decamping to the Bear House from next Monday. TTFN PP |

12 May 04 - 08:30 AM (#1183705) Subject: RE: Manchester Session 21/05/04 From: Pied Piper Yes Ced2 he is a fully paid up member of the awkward party. There will of cause not be a ban on singing but the general idea is collective musicing. Discussions in another place seem to indicate that as I came up with the idea I'll be the session "Leader" to keep you sheep in order and prevent the eruption of spontaneity, so I'll be wearing my Adolph moustache and Jackboots. 12 May 04 - 09:15 AM (#1183767) Subject: RE: Manchester Session 21/05/04 From: Pied Piper The Idea Nick is that the people that attend will be playing TOGETHER for most of the time, and I don't want you wasting your time if you expect a sing-around (though I suspect you have no intentions of coming anyway) Unconcerned of Eccles |

12 May 04 - 10:24 AM (#1183837) Subject: RE: Manchester Session 21/05/04 From: GUEST,Raggytash John ............ Can you not see a joke when it's put in front of you. As for playing together, if I am singing I postively welccome other musicians joining in and I am not only in this. ..... lighten up. Noreen it's not nice to call Pied Piper a scab, please don't say that you might hurt his feelings :-) |

12 May 04 - 11:11 AM (#1183871) Subject: RE: Manchester Session 21/05/04 From: Dave the Gnome Harry Ogden used to run a club at the Marble Arch about 75 staggers from there. Wonder what happens to folk clubs in that area? Didn't the Queens (about 200 staggers across the road - watch out for Rochdale buses) have a session or two at one time as well? The Landlord there used to be David Glass - We lived next to his parents a while back. Eeeeh. that was a good reminisce. Now, where was I... Cheers DtG |

12 May 04 - 11:42 AM (#1183896) Subject: RE: Manchester Session 21/05/04 From: GUEST,Raggytash Harry Ogden .......... there's a name from the past ....... I recall one night being in the studio at Piccadily Radio, Harry, Ted Edwards and me. Ted and I were to sing live but someone who shall remain nameless (but his initials are Harry Ogden) forgot to switch the VU meter to full for my Mike, thus you could hear Ted clearly with a little squeak from me occasionally in the background, the tape that I had running at home was quickly, very quickly erased ! |

24 May 04 - 08:07 AM (#1192615) Subject: RE: Manchester Session 21/05/04 From: JulieF Thanks for the hospitality on Friday. Shame there wasn't a larger turnout but that's the way it goes as the summer sets in. Made it back to Sheffield no problem. ( except for the young bloke in Manchester who pursued me down the street shouting 'I'm phsyic why woun't you help me? - normal for a Manchester Friday night I assume). Will try to persuade some of our lot over for continued cultural exchange and expect all of you at the Sheffield Festival in October. All the best Julie |
