Sorry, Skarpi. Still don't know it. You asked in '99, but didn't tell us any more about it.

Who sang it?

The only recording I can find is by a group called Highland Heights on their eponymous CD Highland Heights - Rocky Coast Music Catalogue RCMI CD-7 (scroll down page).

This web site shows Highland Heights recording "Maritime Song." Which one do you suppose is the typo?

Jim

This site Nova Scotia Kitchen Party also lists it as Son. As also does Windmill Music.

When I was looking originally for the song I got a reference to it on a playlist being sung by someone called John Ferguson but the page was unreachable. I've since found a reference this version John Ferguson - After The Ceilidh on a playlist for Radio CJFX, Highland Heart of Nova Scotia. It's possible that e-mailing the radio station for a contact to John Ferguson could get the words.

(Searching in general hampered by French maritime son coming up a lot and a book Notes of a Maritime Son (which might have influenced the song, who knows?)

the Highland Heights version is an Original from about '94 or '95 I think. Might be able to rule that one out. Not sure......Slainte!
