Two channels: first one for vocals can handle 1/4" or XLR. Second channel for guitar. Channels have independant volume but combined equalization. My standard set up is SM58/tripod stand for vocals and a guitar with on-board EQ options. Altho I normally play sitting down, leading group singing IMO requires standing up and, as luck would have it, the amp stood on its end, is perfect for me to put my right foot on to support my guitar. Plenty of volume - I've never had to really crank it much in outdoor park settings, street corners, good-sized churches. I mostly use for sing-alongs with groups large and small. Sound quality is so-so - it sounds like a 15 watt Crate solid state amp with an 8" woofer & piezo tweeter (what it is) - but you will be heard and understood. I even trucked the thing halfway across the country to lead songs at my Dad's funeral in a big old church in Philly and it worked just fine. I've never run out of juice in 3, 4 hours of playing. You can leave plugged in at home between gigs and it'll only charge to full level and then stop charging. Weighs about 20 lbs. Another plus is I can carry everything I need from whatever parking option to gigsite in one trip. Also occasionally use when jamming with banjoistas, flatpickers, etc. who are just plain louder than I am. Cost me about $130. Because of its price and ease of use, I've lent out the amp for events & causes I believe in with no worry re damaged/stolen/etc. My 3 cents. - Merritt "It's all one big note" - Frank Zappa |

The 50 AMP, which I don't own (but borrow on occasion, has more than two channels, as I recall. I've used the 30 AMP Taxi two or three times a week for about 18 months, with no problems at all. I've used neither with an electric base, although it has been hooked-up to an upright bass several times. 30 AMP was $175.00 US. Wilco in Tennessee |
