CAMSCO still has some copies in stock: $26.00+1.50 shipping.

It's an expanded version of the old Penguin Book--Penguin had nothing to do with the expanded notes, so it'd been re-named to Classic English Folk Songs.

Micca - that's the one - the updated one - there seems to be some of the old one in stock - but think I'll go for the new one - and it's only 14.99 sterling - thanks very much again.

Penguinophiles will also know that there's a Penguin Book of Ballads (ed. Geoffrey Grigson),1975, and a Penguin Book of Border Ballads (ed. William Beattie), 1952.

The Penguin Book of Folk Ballads of the English-speaking World is a paperback edition of The Viking Book of Folk Ballads of the English-speaking World, edited by Albert B. Friedman (1956). Border Ballads [not The Penguin Book of ...] is mostly a selection from Sir Walter Scott's Minstrelsy of the Scottish Border. Others include The Common Muse: An Anthology of Popular British Ballad Peotry 15th-20th Century (1957; collection of broadside ballads), and The Penguin Book of Narrative Verse (1960; collection of non-traditional literary ballads).

My copy of the original PBoEFS is so old it doesn't have bar codes or ISBNs anywhere in sight.

Mind you this is probably true of most if not all of these.
