12 Oct 98 - 01:09 AM (#41264) Subject: Missing Mudcat blues From: BSeed After last weekend's four day crash, when the threads were shut down today I was wandering around elsewhere on my Mac and I found this song. It seems to be a 12 bar blues--but there's that one verse with four lines, three of 'em have to be jammed into the first six or so measures.
MISSIN' THE MUDCAT BLUES |

12 Oct 98 - 03:10 AM (#41282) Subject: RE: Missing Mudcat blues From: BSeed Joe, ya gotta teach me how to edit a posting that's already in the threads. I notice I missed changing a couple or three apostrophes, so they came out as ones. Luckily, I didn't use any quotation marks. Another note to anyone else: the third verse, of course, still fits, as in Mule Skinner Blues: I got a belly fulla whiskey, got a head fulla gin, The doctor sez it'll kill me but he don't say when, I'm a long line skinner, got a home out in the west. I'm lookin' for a woman who's gonna love me the best. --seed Click here, Seed |

14 Oct 98 - 01:30 PM (#41665) Subject: RE: Missing Mudcat blues From: BSeed I tried to refresh this last night, but I was having a hell of a time posting anything. Now I finally posted a reference to it on Writing Songs, so maybe I can finally get my postings through again. --seed |

15 Oct 98 - 12:24 AM (#41736) Subject: RE: Missing Mudcat blues From: BSeed Max, you're right there. In the song. Honest. All along, the kicker in the last verse. (not counting the repeated first verse). --seed

Seems like you got most of the regulars. And put my name in the same line as me beloved alison, bejazus lad, but it don't git no better than this. All the best, Mick |

15 Oct 98 - 01:40 AM (#41750) Subject: RE: Missing Mudcat blues From: BSeed Joe, you are there, in your usual guise as the source of all knowledge, last line of the 3rd (4-line) verse. --seed Or is it my pairing Alison and Mick that Bothers you? |

15 Oct 98 - 02:09 AM (#41755) Subject: RE: Missing Mudcat blues From: BSeed Joe: As on occasion before, I double posted this time because my first didn't show up on the threads list I had called up; I posted again, and when the list returned I opened the thread to find both postings. I've discovered that if you use the back arrow or if you click the forum home link, you get the version of the list from which you came, i.e., with nothing on it since you left it. Is there any way other than posting of calling up an up-to-the-minute threads list? --seed |

15 Oct 98 - 02:31 AM (#41758) Subject: RE: Missing Mudcat blues From: Joe Offer No further comment, Seed. I could get myself in trouble, ya know. If you use the back arrow or backspace key, you go back to the previous page you were on, and it is not refreshed. If you post a message or use the forum home button, you should go to a refreshed Forum menu - works for me. Of course, if you're fast about reading messages, maybe nobody's posted a new message since you last looked, or maybe your browser is set to use the archived version of the page. -Joe Offer, still miffed- ...but I did enjoy the song, self-promoted though it may be... |

15 Oct 98 - 10:02 AM (#41790) Subject: RE: Missing Mudcat blues From: Jon W. There's also the "Show threads" button for refreshing the threads page - it works well even if you haven't change the filter or number of days. The only problem is if you post to a thread, it changes the number of days from 1 to 3 and there's no way to change it back (is there, Max?) so it takes longer to refresh the page. Jon W. |

15 Oct 98 - 10:04 PM (#41887) Subject: RE: Missing Mudcat blues From: BSeed I had problems posting again today, Jon. I had written you a note thanking you for the tip, but wondering where in he heck my "Show Threads" button might be: It used to be about where the Create a New Thread link is, maybe just under it. I used to use it a lot out of impatience at waiting for the list to appear until I discovered that although using it quickly gave me a list, it was only about a third of the total list and it lasted only about 30 seconds. I'd punch the button again, the list would come back, only about half as long, and again, only for 30 seconds; a third punch would get me a very abbreviated list, maybe only the top four or five. Finally I discovered that if I just waited for them to boot, they'd hang around for a while. But I don't get the button any more. --seed |

15 Oct 98 - 10:13 PM (#41890) Subject: RE: Missing Mudcat blues From: BSeed Jon, the message above is essentially the one I tried to post earlier today, minus the incomplete thought that opens it. I have this problem from time to time of my postings not making it to a thread; the top of the threads list appears, but my thread is not there. I scroll down to it and see my posting is not at the end of the thread. Happened today, and after three futile attempts I gave up. --seed |
