13 May 04 - 08:00 PM (#1185200) Subject: Folklore: New Member From: folkfan73 Hello folk fans out there! I am folkfan73! I am a new member since 12:57am on Friday, 14th May 2004. The 73 means 1973, the year I was born, in United kingdom. My main music is country but I still love folk music from folk bands, like Katherine Tickell, Carmina, Lindisfarne. I saw Lindisfarne live at Trinity Art Centre in Gainsborough years ago and bought a CD and had it signed, but lost the CD in a flat burglary. I reacquired another copy from insurance, but this was not signed, and signed copies are special. I also saw Vin Garbutt at the same theatre, and I got a signed tape called "Vin Garbutt: When the Tide Turns Again". Has anyone got a signed tape, LP or CD of this album from Vin Garbutt? I also saw Martin Simpson live. I think it was at the samwe theatre I mentioned earlier. I got a signed CD of him, and that was good, too! I found a website that plays good folk music, at.... http://www.vitaminic.com/main/country_folk/folk It is called "Towards the light" by Viking from Italy. Just copy this address and paste it in your browser. Has anyone listened to it? What do you think? I also like pop, dance music, jazz, classical, gospel, rock, rock and roll and blues. |

14 May 04 - 04:32 AM (#1185428) Subject: RE: New Member Folkfan73 From: Geoff the Duck Welcome to the 'Cat. I assume you still live in Britain somewhere. If you let us all know which part of the country you are located, someone might know other Mudcatters in the same general area (There are plenty of 'catters in Yorkshire, a unch surrounding London. quite a number in South Wales etc. Don't be too specific, because it is an open forum and any nutter can read it (general internet safety practice). Mostly we're a fun bunch. Good advice is "Think before you post"; "read the thread before making a fool of yourself"; "If you still want to make a fool of yourself, stick a big grin next to it...". Have fun. Quack! Geoff the Duck. |

You'll find fellow 'catters at Festivals throughout the summer, if you're interested in putting faces to names. |

In fact, they are going tonight, I think! They are known as Travelling Audience. I might ask them if I can join them. If they say yes, I will see you there. I will be wearing a blue shirt and black trousers, and with a beard. |
