Before I make my comment, I would like to disclose that the company I work for in my "day job" provided technical services for the production of this DVD. While this gives me a professional connection to the project, I would like to make a comment based on my role as a fan of documentaries and a radio host.

I think this is a fascinating documentary, especially if you are not a fan of bluegrass music or have not attended a festival like Grey Fox. I was reminded a bit of the film "Festival" which documented the Newport Folk Festival.   Both films capture a slice of life and the connection between fans, performers and the music. The sound quality is superb.

Bluegrass Journey uses the Grey Fox festival as sort of a "base". There is also footage of various performers at other venues including the IBMA's.

Don't expect a in-depth documentary with rare footage ala Ken Burns' Jazz. While I would have loved to see more historical footage, the purpose of the film was to showcase the connection between music and fans, and I think they pull it off.    Thumbs up!
