should have mentioned this before. there is a terrific interview in the new folk song magazine song book this month with Martin Simpson

www.song-book.co.uk

also articles on josh Ritter, Shona Kipling, Chip Taylor and Carrie Rodriguez, Allan Taylor, Tony McPhee and Po Girl, Emily Druce, Redbird, Quiet loner, Kirsty McGee and many more

felt I owed them a favour after they gave my cd a nice review last quarter
magazine fondlers anon will be impressed to know that Sean McGhee - he of the late lamented rock n reel is involved. More legible that rnr and very reasonably pricesd at £10 for the year

well theres a bit about Bob Copper of course
record reviews of many folk musicians
of course if we're into a debate about what is real folk music, we settled that years ago
the answer is 42

some men say the world is round
others say this cannot be so, after all the the floor is down and the ceiling is up, burn these unbelievers at the stake
some say say al lloyd defined what is folk music
others point out that bert lloyd was initially a translator of the surrealist poets (see penguin poetry of the 1940's)
in surrealism sometimes the floor is not down the ceiling is not up and express trains rush out of the mantle piece
some us think that a vision of folk music that alienates 90% of the urban population is a nonsense
a magazine about folk and acoustic music is a damn fine venture, fetch the matches and get snotty about artists like alan taylor and martin simpson if you will - like the born again christians say - they have proved it with their life - they have devoted their life and artistry to producing music that is sometimes of great beauty
their work is of interest to some of those who read these pages
I am so sorry to have offended your sensibilities about folk music

Did I knock anybody ??

I know Simpson's work very well and he is an outstanding musician

Taylor I haven't heard for a long time but I know he is well respected.

It's just that when music is described as "Folk Music" it really does mean different things to different people whatever you may personally believe.

I like to know if a magazine or in fact any product is going to be of interest to me before I investigate any further.

You answered my question for which I have already thanked you.
