Hey folks.....John is a respected member around here and I hadn't heard much about this.......Maybe we could at least ask a question or two? When a member has something this exciting, even if I am too far away to be there, at least I can support the effort and the work.

In this case, Mrs.P can you or John give us some more info on the book and the background. I missed somehow that he was doing/had done this!!!

Spaw

Yes - please feel free to tell us a little about the book. Spaw, I don't think it's just you. I don't remember hearing anything about it. I'd guess Amherst Market is somewhere on the upper left coast?

In any case, John: break a lead! (Or whatever's appropriate for book-signings).

Hi,
I think I'm the only member called John P, and I haven't a clue what this is all about. It must be another, non-member, John P. I'll be playing music at the Folklife Festival in Seattle on Saturday.

Mrs. P, perhaps giving a last name for your John P would be a good thing.

Thanks,
John Peekstok

This was a mystery to me, also. Thanks for piping up, John! I expect if Mrs P ever comes back she might want to clarify...

Am I the only one who thought this was someone trying to get just the one posting on a thread?

Of course there IS an Amherst, it's in Massachusetts, but I still think it's a bogus thread..xx..e

(Ever heard of the Belle Of Amherst? AKA a little known poet by the name of Emily Dickenson?)

Lord Jeffrey Amherst was a soldier of the King
And he came from across the sea!
For the Frenchies and the Indians he didn't give a thing
In the wilds of the wild countree!

Oh Amherst! Brave Amherst!
Twas a name known to fame in days of yore!
May she ever, ever be glorious
'Til the sun shall climb the heavens no more!

Sorry, darlion'...I didn't know there was an issue in play!

Oh, and I left out half the verse!! Shame on me!!

Oh, Lord Jeffrey Amherst was a soldier of the King
And he came from across the sea!
For the Frenchies and the Indians he didn't give a thing
In the wilds of this wild countree!
In the wilds of this wild countree!
And for his Royal Majesty he fought with all his might,
He was a soldier, loyal and true.
And he conquered all the enemy that came within his sight,
And he looked around for more when he was through!

Oh Amherst! Brave Amherst!
Twas a name known to fame in days of yore!
May she ever, ever be glorious
'Til the sun shall climb the heavens no more!

Well John (OUR John P), I'm a bit sorry here as I figure you to be a man to have a book or two in him and I was hoping I was right!

I'm sorry it's not our John, as I'd thought, too, Spaw, but really I am surprised you are acting the dunce on this when it looks as though it is in your neck of the woods! Cletus and them keeping something from you?

There's a "Less is More" which is a business theory book (I'm guessing) advertized at Amazon.com. It wasn't written by the John P. (Something) who's mentioned in the "people who've bought this book have also purchased books from ____" part.

John Prine has NOT written a book.

The only books I have under my belt are books of music, a couple self-published tune books and one of harp music put out by Afghan Press in Houston. That one is still actualy in print!
