There was a school song that was sung to the tune of "My Hero" from the musical "Chocolate Soldier". I know the first line was "Mine mine Washington Irving, the High School for me". One of the middle lines was " Onward, onward together, onward faltering never". Are there any native New Yorkers out there in Mudcatland that would remember all the words to this alma mata song ? |

Song From: GUEST Dear Friend of Washington Irving High School, After one hundred and eleven years, the institution that is Washington Irving High School will graduate its final class of students in June of this year. Washington Irving is now in its final year of being phased out. This school has been a mainstay of the Union Square area since 1904, a model of opportunity and caring for tens of thousands through its existence. Students and faculty alike have called these halls their home, and alumni and past educators continue to work and volunteer in this historic building.
