The young Canadian regiments (from Saskatchewan, I believe) were the first "guinea pigs" to be sacrificed at sunrise as the Allies attempted their first beach landing on the shores of France. There are graveyards full of Canadian soldiers there. And the locals have never forgotten their gratitude and loyalty to the Canadians and the rest of Allies. daylia |
