The thread on brush arbor ministry reminded me of this one. The Lewis Family has an album from 1966 (Starday) with a song title "old Brush Arbors." The album is titled "All Day Singing and Dinner on the Grounds." I've tried to find this song, and found a George Jones version, which is not the Lewis family version. Thanks in advance!!!

OLD FASHIONED SINGING

I just love that good old gospel singing.
I'll Fly Away's my favorite song.
I just love that good old-time religion.
This old world has gone without it much too long.

CHORUS: Oh, how I love to sing and tell
When They Ring Those Golden Bells!
And I just can't stand in one place
When they sing Amazing Grace.
I just love that good old country preaching.
This old world has gone without it much too long.

Yes, I love them good old-fashioned gatherings
Where all of God's children came to pray.
And oh, how I really miss those old brush arbors!
How I wish we had more of those days today! CHORUS

[Recorded by George Jones & Tammy Wynette on "We Love To Sing About Jesus," 1972.]

OLD BRUSH ARBORS
Gordon Ardis and Darrell Edwards

I remember them so clearly.
Mom and Dad loved them so dearly.
Old brush arbors by the side of the road.
Where I learned about salvation
From the book of Revelation
In them arbors by the side of the road.

CHORUS 1: Old brush arbors by the side of the road,
Where a sinner could lay down his heavy load.
It was in those old brush arbors,
Troubled soul found peaceful harbor.
Brush arbors by the side of the road.

Many times I had departed
From the way of life I started
In them arbors by the side of the road.
But each time the devil caught me,
I remembered what they taught me
In brush arbors by the side of the road.

CHORUS 2: Old brush arbors by the side of the road,
Where the mighty light of God's great mercy flowed,
There was praying, shouting, singing
Till the countryside was ringing
In brush arbors by the side of the road.

[Recorded by George Jones on "I'm a People", 1966, and several later albums; also by Pat Boone and by The Osborne Brothers.]
