The Blues Project Album made an indelible impression on many of us who heard it in the mid sixties. Particularly Dave's tracks Bad Dream Blues and Don't you leave me here. Later on his song Green Green Rocky Road and his instrumental of St Louis tickle became essential parts of any guitarists's psyche - everybody seemed to know a phrase or riff or two - even if we couldn't piece the whole thing together. I am so pleased that he was appreciated and honoured in his own land. He was a terrific singer and guitarist and he had a lot of fans over here in England. |

I also doubt the City of New York, acting a "the government" has taken it upon itself to commemorate Dave. Others, however, have petitioned the city to make it so that going forward, people may stop and ask, "Just who was this Dave Van Ronk character?" and discover all the wonder that he was. dw |

Before I left town I had one of his albums and have purchased more over the years, the latest being the Sunday Street CD. Even today he is one of my favorite singers and guitarists. From what I have read and heard, Van Ronk was also an avid supporter of others trying to make an impression in the world of folk music. I have encountered some folk in music who seemed on a personal quest for glory. From what I have heard of Van Ronk he was at the opposite end of that spectrum. However, he is certainly deserving of respect and honor and it is nice to see this type of recognition. |

As he was on his way home to his apartment on Waverly Street(where he lived at the time)he stopped to see the festivities at the Stonewall. Capt. Fink, the precinct commander,imeediately singled him out as a ringleader(DVR stood out, even in that crowd!). Dave later proudly claimed that the headline in the Daily News the next day read "FOLKSINGER BUSTED IN FAG RIOT!" Mark Ross |

Take Avenue of The Americas---to New Yorkers (and perhaps to all others) it is still 6th Ave. Thankfully Donald Trump has not had a street named for him yet---heaven knows he has plastered his name all over town on other things---now if he could only plaster his hair. Perhaps on this cold and prior to snow day he (DVR) might be singing Green Green Rocky Road so as to think of pleasanter weather. Bill Hahn |
