This could be a hard sell to people who don't know Yiddish or have enough familiarity with Jewish food, words, expressions, etc. However, for those that do, it's very funny. Sol, would you be kind enough to translate some words? |
20 Jun 04 - 03:49 PM (#1211046) Subject: RE: Parody: Peel One More Potato For The Kugel From: Rabbi-Sol Bruce, Here are the words that you probably don't undertstand. Kugel is pudding. Tzitzis are fringes which are worn on a four cornered garment by orthodox Jewish males, between their undershirt and outer shirt. They also appear on a praying shawl. Shas refers to a complete set of the Babylonian Talmud, all 24 volumes, each one weighing in excess of 5 pounds. This is found in the libraries of most orthodox Jewish homes. Shabbos is the Sabbath (Saturday). Challahs are special braided loaves of bread that are baked specially for Sabbath & holiday meals. Anything else you don't understand, just ask. SOL ZELLER |

(Just in case any women come to this thread I will say the following: Women deserve to be the head of the household because they are brilliant managers and people, creative and intelligent, kind and strong.)
