I'd like to put a pick-up on my bowed psaltary. Having heard a friend's electric cello, I'm keen to try electric psaltary. I have no idea what sort is best for this instrument. Anybody out there ever tried it?

Has it got any holes in the soundboard?
If so a really good cheap pickup can de made out of a piezo-trancducer just wedge it against the underside of the soundboard with a piece of dowel and it will give a good output, no pre-amp needed.
If you use 2 in different positions and pan them 100% left and right you will not believe how fantastic it sounds.

Consider a PICK-UP THE WORLD which a Mudcatter had a hand in designing. These things are incredibly faithful in capturing the sound and don't require instrument modification.

I have heard nothing but great comments about these.
