Somebody told me that there is a (new, maybe) song by Christy Moore about George Bush? Does anybody know anything about this? Have lyrics? Has it been recorded? Thanks,

Maryanne

its probably the "I love America" track on his box set which is also sang by morrissey. The sarcasm is quite incredable.

I have never heard Christy Moore sing the Song you mention Maire-anne and O'Hara.
Is the song possibly "America is not the World" written by Morrisey?
or has Christy Moore written a different Song that Morrisey has covered.

Best to all

"America I Love You" by Morrissey; on Christy's 2005 CD "Burning Times". From the liner notes:

We played... in Castlebar and after the gig I was waylaid by this tank of a female Texan. She tore into me like nobody's business. You called me a pig, Mr Moore, I want my money back. The promoter refunded her despite my cries that it was only one song she didn't like. No she retorted, there was another one. Who is this Allende guy we are supposed to have killed?

Cheers,
Michael

Veteran Irish folk singer Christy Moore has recorded a version of the Moz track 'America Is Not The World' and re-named it 'America I Love You'.

America your head's too big, Because America, Your belly's too big
And I love you, I just wish you'd stay where you is

In America, The land of the free, they said, And of opportunity, In a just and a truthful way
But where the president, Is never black, female or gay, And until that day
You've got nothing to say to me, To help me believe

In America, It brought you the hamburger, Well America you know where, You can shove your hamburger
And don't you wonder, Why in Estonia they say, Hey you, Big fat pig
You fat pig, You fat pig

Steely Blue eyes with no love in them, Scan The World,
And a humourless smile, With no warmth within, Greets the world
And I, I have got nothing, To offer you
No-no-no-no-no
Just this heart deep and true, Which you say you don't need

See with your eyes, Touch with your hands, please, Hear through your ears, Know in your soul, please
For haven't you me with you now?
And I love you, I love you, I love you, And I love you, I love you, I love you

Yeah--a patriotic little ditty for sure. Oink. LOL-so what's her alternative, eh? The former Soviet Union? GB? How about the fine, peaceful Middle East. Easy to cast stones from your glass houses. How about something constructive instead of the vitriol? No? Got nothin'?

"America ... where the President is never black, female or gay".

Well the secretary of state is the first two. I make no comment on the fact that she's unmarried.
