21 Jun 04 - 06:18 AM (#1211311) Subject: Leigh (Essex, UK) Festival 2004 From: Dave Bryant Leigh Folk Festival (near Southend, Essex, UK) is next weekend June 25-27th. Who's planning to go ? (- are you going as usual McGrath ?). Does anyone know if I'm likely to be able to get my caravan on the campsite if I turn up on Friday night ? |

22 Jun 04 - 05:50 AM (#1211923) Subject: RE: Leigh (Essex, UK) Festival 2004 From: McGrath of Harlow "There seems to be a possible problem... That's the kind of thing they say when the engine falls out of the plane. Tell us more Dave - is there some access problem to the campsite this nyear? The festival website just says, in respect of camping "Check this website for availability before travelling". Which leaves us rather in the air (and that's tricly when the engien falls out of the plane...) All things going well I should be there - it's a very enjoyable festival. You don't get Belly Dancers and Morris Dancers together at all that many places. |

22 Jun 04 - 06:11 AM (#1211928) Subject: RE: Leigh (Essex, UK) Festival 2004 From: Dave Bryant I e-mailed the festival yesterday: Will there be room for me to bring my small (11') caravan to the campsite ? I got this reply from John New: Ordinarily yes ~ but we are currently working on a serious problem that may mean we cannot have any camping ~ I will let you know ~ meanwhile I am sweating .... john |

23 Jun 04 - 06:33 AM (#1212754) Subject: RE: Leigh (Essex, UK) Festival 2004 From: McGrath of Harlow "we are currently working on a serious problem" That really does sound like an engine falling out... Keep us informed, Dave. I'm sure John can do without having to respond to too many people asking the same questions. (I wonder if it could be flooding?) |

23 Jun 04 - 07:10 AM (#1212762) Subject: RE: Leigh (Essex, UK) Festival 2004 From: Dave Bryant The spring tides for this period are not due until the following weekend. For the 25/06-27/06, the tides forecast (for Southend) are all 4.9m & 5.0m which are fairly low for the area, esp compared to the 5.9m forecast for the 4/07-6/07. There are a couple of Caravan Club CL sites in the area, I may try to book on one of those if there's a problem with camping down near the station. |

24 Jun 04 - 04:25 AM (#1213377) Subject: RE: Leigh (Essex, UK) Festival 2004 From: Dave Bryant The camping is down at beach (or rather mudflat) level. Given high tides and strong winds in the wrong direction, it is probable that the area could flood. Mind you, I'm not sure whether that is the reason. I still haven't heard any more from John - will e-mail him again, |

24 Jun 04 - 08:53 AM (#1213486) Subject: RE: Leigh (Essex, UK) Festival 2004 From: Dave Bryant Thanks John - It's just that I didn't want to drive all the way to Leigh (including an extra quid for Dartford Crossing) with the caravan on the back of the car just to find that I'd got to turn round and go back again. See you around over the weekend - Linda should be with me on Saturday night. |

24 Jun 04 - 01:47 PM (#1213635) Subject: RE: Leigh (Essex, UK) Festival 2004 From: GUEST,p_a_holden@hotmail.co.uk I am also involved with the festival. Just to confirm; the campsite is fine and was all checked out a couple of hours ago. We look forward to seeing tomorrow. There is brilliant sunshine here in Leigh as I write; but we can't guarantee that aspect. I might use the idea of "Belly Dancers and Morris Dancers together" in next year's publicity! Thanks for the image....... details at www.leighfolkfestival.co.uk |
