!!!! STEWARDS NEEDED !!!!Posted by John Blackwell, Tuesday 08 June 2004, (edited Tuesday 15 June 2004)

Ely Folk Weekend needs about 50 - 60 stewards to help make everything run smoothly and safely. At the moment we are a few stewards short so if you are interested in putting in 8 - 10 hours over the weekend then we will give you a free weekend ticket, which includes camping. Contact us on our general email address info@elyfolk.co.uk

Anybody else going? I'll be in the beer tent joining in as usual (with the drink and the songs!)

I'll definitely be there John, albeit it looks as if we may need extra waterproofing.

Shall I ask you to mind my sawn-off capo while in the beer tent?

Brian Rodgers and Marion may be making a day-trip visit which would be nice.

Ian Bruce knows where that capo is!!!

Brian & Marion have friends in Soham so are thinking about coming up from there. Hopefully the weather will ahve settled down to showers rather than the torrents we're suffering at the moment

What a splendid weekend.

John won the falling down race on Saturday, and I on Sunday. What a hangover I have today! I am so glad I am not the two young players who started on the "Double Vision" at 11 am on Saturday.

There was only one torrent.

I lost my small Shubb all by myself this time, with no help from John at all!

Some cracking young players - one I met really was convinced about the importance of the oral tradition (even if, like Jim Moray, he does almost everything on a computer). Maybe we are not dodos quite yet.
Some cracking older players.
A man with the loudest djembe I've ever heard (apparently drums for Peter Green, I'm told).

The only carp would be the relative (not absolute) lack of traditional singers.

For drone-driven hypnosis, catch a band called Nuada. Fascinating!
