27 Jun 04 - 04:19 PM (#1215089) Subject: San Francisco FreeFolk Fest & Cllr From: Dave Swan I attended Cllr's Songs of the Sea Singaround at the San Francisco Free Folk Festival yesterday morning and had a great time. Mike ran the session with authority, good humo(u)r, and a BIG voice. After I had finished my set that evening we got down to the business of beer drinking. This man is funny as hell, interesting and friendly. We heard p.j.'s set and had to part as it had gotten late and rides and wakefulness were geting short. We'll see each other again and drink another beer. Hang on, New York Mudcats. He's headed your way and you're in for a good time. D |

28 Jun 04 - 05:35 AM (#1215377) Subject: RE: San Francisco FreeFolk Fest & Cllr From: GUEST,SaltyWalt I had a great time,- I attended mostly "chantey" based events, So I can say little other than Peter and Richard sounded great, and there are a number of "hidden gems" singing out there in the audience. Mike did a fine job of getting people to remember "Little Pot Stove", and seemed to be enjoying what he was hearing as well as what he sang. Powerful and friendly, I look forward to hearing him in his native England. My "bandmates" attended a number of workshops and had great things to say, but I think they liked the "folksy" feel of the halway jams the best. |
