28 Jun 04 - 08:49 PM (#1215898) Subject: RE: Mrs Pavane sings online From: Maryrrf I like your voice. I much prefer a rich, strong female voice to the currently popular "little girl voices" like Cara Dillon, Karan Casey and some others. This isn't meant to spark a debate - it's just my preference. I enjoyed the songs. |

29 Jun 04 - 02:55 AM (#1216007) Subject: RE: Mrs Pavane sings online From: pavane Nearly 30 years ago, I tried to get her to sound more like Sandy Denny. She has never forgiven me for asking that. In fact she often gets compared with a well known pop singer (from the 1970's). I will leave you to guess which one. One name is often mentioned at gigs - will be interesting to see your suggestions. For myself, they all say 'Look, it's Kenny Rogers'. Shame I can't sing. |

30 Jun 04 - 10:12 AM (#1216984) Subject: RE: Mrs Pavane sings online From: pavane Thanks to everyone who listened. This resulted in Mrs Pavane appearing at numbers 1, 4, 6 and 7 in their charts yesterday! That tickled her greatly. |

01 Jul 04 - 05:01 AM (#1217558) Subject: RE: Mrs Pavane sings online From: GMT I enjoyed those very much. A lovely voice but I couldn't say who it reminds me of. Pavane, Dawne has a lovely vibrato. Too nice to lose even to sound like Sandy Denny. Good stuff. Gary |

02 Jul 04 - 02:06 AM (#1218088) Subject: RE: Mrs Pavane sings online From: pavane As there are no more guesses - I will tell you. We consistently get 'Doesn't she sound like Karen Carpenter'. Most recently was at that pub gig last week. No, we can't see it, but it has happened so often, both here and abroad. |

02 Jul 04 - 09:24 AM (#1218297) Subject: RE: Mrs Pavane sings online From: GMT Okay I went back for another listen. For a moment I thought maybe but then no. Karen Carpenters was a very distinctive timbre. However my earlier comments stand. Dawne has a wonerfully rich voice of her own. Cheers Gary |
