04 Jul 04 - 11:17 AM (#1219288) Subject: BS: Boston Consulting Group wants you fired! From: Bobert Well, ain't this something? A report by the Boston Consulting Group released this week "warns American firms that they risk extinction if they hesitate in shilfting facilities to countries with low costs." They also point out that "a view of among U.S. executives (is) that the quality of American workers is deteriorating." (Washington Post, July 2, 2004, "Implored to 'Offshore' More", by Paul Blustein) My only question is the same one I keep asking. When the United Sates becomes a Third World country with 95% of its people either unemployed or vastly underemployed (which we are seeing now), who is going to buy the junk that these corporations make overseas? And a follow up question. Just how will the rich then live in a country where their greed has just reduced the masses to an impoverished class? (Think Haiti here, if you like...) Bobert |

04 Jul 04 - 11:44 AM (#1219300) Subject: RE: BS: Boston Consulting Group wants you fired! From: CarolC Hey Bobert. Do you ever watch Lou Dobbs' show (I think it's called "Lou Dobbs Tonight" on CNN)? I used to think he was a corporate shill, but lately he's been waging a one man crusade to shame companies that send jobs overseas. It's worth checking out if you haven't seen it. Maybe we ought to outsource those Boston Consulting Group jobs to a third world country. |

04 Jul 04 - 12:26 PM (#1219316) Subject: RE: BS: Boston Consulting Group wants you fired! From: Metchosin I watched Dobbs, about a month back, take the piss out of, if I remember his name correctly, Steve Forbes of Forbes Magazine and a couple of others of his ilk, for their lauding the wonderful benefits of outsourcing. I was a bit suprized to find it was on CNN and not a PBS type thing. My first thought, as was Bobert's, was if this "wonderful thing" continues, who's going to be left in a position to buy all your stuff, a**holes!" Even "good" old Henry Ford had enough acumen to recognize the economic benefits of paying people enough to actually purchase what they had built. |

From: DougR Maybe you folks that are so unhappy with the corporations moving certain cost-saving operations overseas, should mover over there and get a job! How about India, Bobert? I think they may have some great telemarketing jobs available. :>) DougR |

From: Bobert Well, Dougie, my friend, I was thinking that since their are so many retirees now in America that need a ttention that maybe we oughta round 'um all up, RV's, Geritol and all, and ferry them off to India and save the rest of us a ton of money taking care of them... Of course, yer state would be nuthing but one football team and some very empty bleachers but, hey? Whaddayathink? Bobert |

04 Jul 04 - 04:57 PM (#1219424) Subject: RE: BS: Boston Consulting Group wants you fired! From: CarolC Interesting point, Bobert. I guess if they ship all of the jobs overseas, there won't be anyone left here in the US to pay Douggie's Social Security and Medicare. Then he'd have to move to India anyway. Save us the cost of shipping him over. |

04 Jul 04 - 10:43 PM (#1219504) Subject: RE: BS: Boston Consulting Group wants you fired! From: Bobert What Carol said, Dougie... But seriously, my friend. You do realize that yer guys are trying to bankrupt the governemnt just as the Baby Boomers are getting to the so-called finish line, i.e. retirement... Which I'm beginning to see is not going to be as kind to us as it has been for your generation, that is if any of us actually get to retire... I thought I might be able to do it but have found that the current health care system and the pharmacudical companies are going to keep most of us Baby Boomers on Boss Hog's assembly lines making $8.00 an hour until we drop unless, of course, we want to relocate to India or Pakinsatn and make $8.25 and work on Boss Hog's assembly lines until we drop...
