Went to the Finder, but CD Audio not to be found anywhere. The icon for it in the System Folder, but when I click on it, I also get the "Not Found" pop up. Does anybody have any ideas for a real Luddite on if it's possible to get this feature back, and how. Without it I have no way of regulating the playing of the CD, chosing cuts, etc. |

It is usually installed in the "Apple Extras" folder when you install the operating system. I would do a search (CMD-F) for any file with the word "CD" in its title. If that doesn't come up with it, then (I assume you are astill running system 9.x?) you need to rebuild the desktop as the database has been corrupted. IF that doesn't bring it up, reinstalling probably. Confirm about the OS version being 9.x! Love, Amos |

Did the research thing for anything w/CD, to no avail. But I'd sort of forgotten about that...used to do it semi-regularly. Is it still to hold down COMMAND/OPTION after restart? Love, Lucy Luddite |

CMD+OPTN+Restart will rebuild the desktop. Then do the search again. If it does not show up then it has somehow mysteriously been deleted. You can just play the CD using iTunes, though. I think iTunes will automatically detect its tracks and list them. It is (or was) a free download. Alternative is to do a re-install from your System Software CD customizing it to just install "Apple Extras" or however else you need to configure it to get the CD player. I haven't done 9..x in a while so I am a little rusty. Let me know if any problem and we will delve into the arcane knowledge possessed by She who Knows All Macs.... A |
