Just heard on the news that today is Ringo Starr's 64th birthday.

Happy birthday, Ringo! Yes, we still need you; Yes, we'll still feed you, now that you're sixty-four!

Happy Birthday, Ringo!

Shame that John and George will never get there...

At least he doesn't have to scrimp and save to rent that cottage on the Isle of Wight.

Apparently he doesn't speak to Freddie since he lost his marbles.

Aye, Ringo sang the REAL classics like 'Yellow Submarine' and 'Octopus' Garden' - come to think of it, there's a theme . . .
D'ya think he's up for a sea-song session?
Maybe he could do a new CD, 'Starr Shanties'?!!!

Brilliant at the Harrison memorial concert though and moving choice of song. Rock on Ringo!

Ringo always seemed like a likeable man to me. I'm glad he's made it this far, and I do hope he sees fit to record an album with Bill Shatner one of these days.

Yes, Little Hawk, Ringo does seem to be a nice guy.

Do you think that he'll be reincarnated as a beetle?

Ringo is great - always was - the way he sand The Shirelles 'Boys' on the first album. Easily the best thing on The Concert for George.
Happy Birthday Ringo - loved your dancing in THat'll be the Day.

Hmmm, I liked Anoushka Shankar better in the 'Concert for George' but I agree with your sentiment.

There may have been other artists who were "better" in the concert for George - I felt that the song he chose was very touching.

I suppose its all a question of your vintage. I first heard the Beatles when one night I was standing outside St Georges Hall in St Helens. Me and my cousin were both 12, and neither of us would have dreamed of going in - we hadn't the half crown entrance and anyway the place had a reputation for fighting.

I said theyre good - very surprised, as I'd never heard them before and I wasn't local - I was in St helens for my summer holidays - or it could have been Easter.

Cousin Bernard said oh yes The Beatles - they're a very popular local group. Later that year they appeared on Bill Grundy's teatime TV programme for the first time, I don't think they had a recording contract at this point. I remember being intrigued by the unquiffed hair - visually that was a shock at the time.

To me it seemed a bit weird seeing Danni looking so much like George, but not sounding at all Liverpool.

When Ringo came on with an immediately recognisable Scouse/merseybeat accent. I thought - oh yeh that's what its all about!

Thats what I call folk music!
