Anyone still have one of the original Epi Frontiers? With the fancy pick guard?

Jack's still got his, Burntstump. He won't take it to gigs any more in case it gets damaged.

Hi Strollin' Johnny

Jack has an Epi Texan not a Frontier.

The Frontier was a square shouldered model, somewhat like the Gibson Dove or Hummingbird. The Texas was similiar to the Gibson J-45.

Shame it just sits in the case. These axes are meant to be played and heard.

This thread reminds me of the first guitar I bought on my own. Epiphone FT-79, in a cherry sunburst. I knew I was fated to be a musician when it ended up in a pawn shop. LOL.

Big Mick,
The secound acoustic guitar I bought and still play is an FT 79!
She still sounds great. She has mellowed nicely for nearly 35 years. I love the bass and balanced mid and high strings, can't beat an adjustable bridge and a decent set of well broke in strings...don't forget about fried chicken and getting the bright out of new strings.

Damn, Peter. I must play that dude when I see you next. I have looked for a mid 60's FT79 in a cherry sunburst for years.

All the best,

Mick

Sorry it took so long to come back on that - been out of the country for a while. Maybe I should leave the country as penance for my faux-pas! :0)

Pete Quinn used to play an old epiphone which was quite a lot of fun as I remember - sounds a bit like what you are after. Try him.

Hi! I have an Epiphone Frontier Acoustic with the ropes and cactus on the pick guard. I bought it is 1964-5 and I would like to sell it. I do not know how much it would go for. It had some cracks on the front but I had it repaired. It still sounds great. It has a lousy case. Any ideas on how much it would go for on ebay?

Hi
do you have an email address so we can communicate? Or send me a PM through this site, I think you have to sign up first.
Are you in the UK?

I have been researching this epiphone frontier: so far this is whhat I have got: it was built by Gibson during the time Ted McCarty was president of the company (1948-66). It was designed to compete with the Martin and is a maple-bodied square shouldered dreadnought. This is the info: Frontier model, FT110 (FT=flat topand by checking the serial number: #130502, I determined it was made in 1963.Anyway< my e-mail is RAHLB@aol.com in USA. I am needing to figure out a price for the instrument as I want to sellit like I said. The finish is original and somewhat distressed at this point. It has had some interior work done to at least stabilize some cracking on front but finish was never touched.

Hi a friend has an Epiphone frontier FT110 with original if somewhat battered case.
She is looking to sell it as it was left to her by a relative and she does not play herself.
Could anyone out there give me some suggestions as to how she should go about it.

Thanks. Jon.

I have a 1962 Epiphone Frontier FT110. It is the best playing guitar I have ever played on. Not to mention the sound is unmatchable. It had a rough life before I picked it up. The binding is very fragile and needs to be replaced. I can take pictures if anyone is interested. A great guitar with some character in need of a good home. Times are rough and I need the money unfortunetely. Contact me at my email mckinneymac@msn.com
Thanks,
Mark

Hi: Mine is a FT-110N ser # 4398 .Made in Kalamazoo.
Can anyone shed some light on how old this one is?
It iis maple back and sides and pretty beat up,cracks, etc.
The story is that I played this gtr. 20 years ago
and couldn`t put it down.Mind you I have had some amazing guitars
in the last 45 years I have been playing...but this was special;
the action and tone were precisely what I have been looking for.
So two weeks my buddy calls me up and tells his sister is liquidating
Well, she wasn`t giving it away [$1800] but I could restrain myelf enough even to dicker...so now here it it and here is where it stays.

Hello, I've been looking for a pre-cowboy pickgaurd Frontier for a long time. I played one at Satterlee & Chapin music store in SF about 25 years ago. I have a '65 Texan I will trade or sell in order to acquire the Frontier.
