Sessions in Normandy, France?

Me, my family and some musically minded friends to are off on our annual pilgrimage to Normandy for the Summer Holiday. Does anyone out there know of any music sessions in the South Normandy area? We normally do St Fraimbault but the organisers have had mega arguements and the festival seems to have died a death. I reckon there have got to be some session type things going on in a bar somewhere but have yet to find anything.

If not it'll be several litres of red wine round the BBQ!!...now actually....

When do you come to France.

I live in Le Havre (Northern Normandy) and I should be near St-Vaast-La-Hougue -- not far from Cherbourg around august the 16th because Old Blind Dog and the Batties are performing on august 17th in Tatihou Island Festival.

I will be there with my brother-in-law who is a fine hurdy-Gurdy player and I myself play a G/C 2.5 row melodeon.

If I knew your schedule, I might be able to inform you of what might be valuable to write home about in the area.

No schedule as such, we own gites so we will be lounging about (sorry that should be doing painting and maintenance work!) between 8th and 23rd August. Our gite is in Buais (just outside St Hilaire) and our friends are in St Fraimbault (just outside Domfront). We are really looking for a bar that might have a music session that we can join in.

Actually you might also be able to help with another question. Does the river Vire and the River at Mayenne have a towpath you can cycle along?. We are looking for somewhere to take the bikes that is easy safe cycling for kids. I know about the railway lines near us that have been converted into tracks but we are looking to do some towpath cycling too.

Thanks Laurent

Sessions are rather uncommon in France, even in so-called "Pubs", except in cities like Rouen (1 bar) or Le Havre (one or two bars). Just ask the bar owner and maybe the patrons.

The river Vire has a towpath. Does this suit?
It's probably the same for the river Mayenne.

Hope this helps

Bienvenue en Normandie

Thanks for the info on the Vire towpath. It looks a promising one. Found out there is a new path alongside the Mayenne too so we seem to have a few options now.

Thanks for your help
