I really like all the c.d...some quite especially. She is a great singer and accordian player...lots of good people singing on choruses with her. there is a graet song she wrote about women who like the bad boys and privateers. Another great one about 9-11. Then lots of just wonderful chorus songs...I've been singing along ever since my friend came with this c.d. If someone has the buying information please post. My friend with the c.d. left and now I am bereft. mg |

I do not see any chris roe (are you sure you spelled her name right?) except for an actress, psychologist, the musical reference is for someone whose music is described as upbeat pop and motown trip hop.. doesn't seem like your style mary? please find out more details... and, oh, WHY would we want to buy ANYTHING at a megastore/? glad you enjoyed the music |

I don't think I should post her email etc. without her permission. She is a pretty traditional singer and player..a lot of English type songs...a leader of sea songs....mg |

11 Sep 04 - 05:23 PM (#1269500) Subject: RE: Review: new Chris Roe c.d. From: Stewart Okay, I just picked up Chris Roe's new CD at Dusty Strings in Seattle. It is beautifully packaged and contains the sort of music you would expect from Chris – very tastefully done with excellent musicianship. The CD was produced by William Pint and Felicia Dale, who also performed back-up vocals and instrumentals along with Tania Opland on fiddle, Dan Mahr, Mary Benson and others. Chris sings and also plays harp, button accordion, and concertina. It's a beautiful collection of songs and instrumentals, very nicely performed. Here's the track list: 1. When I was in My Prime 2. The Desparing Lover/Excuse Me 3. Bad Boys and Privateers (Chris Roe) 4. Tom Bowline (Charles Dibin) 5. Wednesday Night/ Northlands (Susan Conger)/ The World Upside Down 6. Wind River Waltz (Mariide Widmann) 7. All Among the Barley 8. Michael and All Angels 9. Saint Malo/ Reel des Noces d'Or 10. NaCl (Kate McGarrigle) 11. Hard Times Come Again No More (Steven Foster) 12. La Manfredina/ La Rotta della Manfredina 13. Smoke On the Wind (Chris Roe) 14. Row On (tune: Tim Laycock) 15. A Pilgrim's Way (words: Rudyard Kipling, tune: Peter Bellamy) Track 13, "Smoke On the Wind" (words and music by Chris) was particularly touching since today is the anniversary of the 9/11 attack in New York City. You can buy this at Dusty Strings in Seattle or email Chris Roe HERE. Cheers, S. in Seattle |
