I have been looking for new Welsh cd's that have come out this Summer.
This looks really great: http://www.tantcymru.net/english-shop1.html
I hope to get a copy when Robin comes to Chicago for the Celtic Fest in September.
Does anyone else know of or can recomend other recent Welsh folk/acoustic cd's?
Hwyl nawr, Chris yn Wheaton

Try Crasdant's Website...

Huw and Tony Williams stopped touring a couple of years back, and Huw started a new venture - a predominantly instrumental Welsh traditional music band, including a triple harp (what a beast!), and a couple of pibgorns, too...

I can recommend harriWattsband new CD "comin' out".
It's not Welsh but the engineers mother from the studio is Welsh, we know someone who plays the harp, and we were in the choir at school. You will love the CD!!

Go on Google and search for Mary Humphrys and Anahata. Mary has several numbers on their CD's in Welsh. They are very good as well.

I went to the CD launch of the Rhes Ganol CD, titled "Yn y Gwaed" (In the Blood) in Abergavenny last Thursday night. Spectacular. The last triple harp band/choir/orchestra/whatever it should be called performed for the last time in the town in 1913 so it was fitting that the CD should be launched there. I have it here in front of me and have been listening to it all day.

Sain has also brought out a harp CD this month, "Trad Harps: Telyn y Celt", but I haven't heard it. I hear that Meinir Heulyn has also brought out a harp CD of trad tunes (although she is known primarily as the harpist for the Welsh National Opera).

Howard at Tant has published a few other CDs which are very good. Derek Smith, of the group Mabon, was just telling me this afternoon that he is setting up a Celtic Music CD agency so that he can distribute a lot of the self-published work that bands tend to sell only at gigs ... as well as everything else. I'll let you know when I hear more.

You should also get Cass Meurig's CD, "Crwth", which came out earlier this year, particularly if you like a medeavil sound.

Crasdant is excellent; they're in the States at the end of this month and will be in concert at the Welsh Festival in Buffalo over the Labour/Labor Day weekend.
