I watched the interview with Lady Heather Mills McCartney on Saturday evening. To me, and to many others, I'd suspect, a heart-warming discourse on the ongoing work by this courageous young woman on behalf of all those killed and maimed by anti-personnel mines all over the world. Particular mention was made of Afghanistan and Iraq, and the saga of a little girl and her struggle to come to terms with the loss of a limb as a result of a fragmentation bomb [ not, we are assured a "W.m.d."], which destroyed all of her family except her Father. People like Lady McCartney and the others who appeared on the programme with her should have the backing of every decent person . They keep hope alive. And who is the interviewee for the next programme? None other than G.W.Bush and his first lady Laura.I will not be watching. For in order to keep hope alive, there are some who should not be heeded--unless to quote to them a certain biblical retort, "Get thee behind me,----"! |

16 Aug 04 - 03:04 AM (#1248463) Subject: RE: BS: Larry King Live From: GUEST,Boab Cluin--your terminology --"preach to the choir" isn't only misplaced, it has no meaning at all in reference to the motives and work carried out by the people who were featured. I cannot see how any compassionate human being could attempt to belittle the good works of anyone---not only the people in the King programme--who make genuine attempts to alleviate the cruel effects of mines. Excepting, that is, somebody who has a blind allegiance to an item like G.W.Bush, whose opportunistic lies after the Towers tragedy brought further horror to the Mid-East, in the form of mines, frag-bombs, D.U. ammo and other ongoing atrocities. No, Cluin---I will not listen to his views on my home t.v. I read and hear more than enough in news-sheets and propaganda/news programmes to let me know that no change of heart can be reasonably expected. And that, Sir, is critical thinking. |

What would you expect to hear from such a one, other than self-serving complex rationalization and justification several removes away from reality? A |
