18 Aug 04 - 08:22 AM (#1250248) Subject: RE: GIBSON WANTED From: Ross The original Gibsons were actually called Gibbons And were built by primates in West Africa from Mango sinews and tropical hardwood The Mango wars of 445BC finally ended this; when man stole the secrets of the furry ones and went to live in America |

18 Aug 04 - 10:59 AM (#1250383) Subject: RE: GIBSON WANTED From: Once Famous Don't listen to these lard asses who don't know a fine quality American guitar when they see one, can't afford one so they knock it, or think something like a Takemine is the greatest thing since a Stella. The J160E is still manufactured new by Gibson. Expect to pay somewhere in the low to mid $2K range. They are also available used for not that much difference in price, because like a Martin, fine quality American made guitars do not depreciate drastically and are in demand both as vintage collectibles and as fine working musician tools unlike all of those nato bodied pieces of crap that some here play. I would strongly suggest that you check into Vintage Guitar magazine which is sold at big booksellers like Borders or Barners & Nobles or visit their website at vintageguitar.com There are tons of ads in this magazine with I will guarantee you many leads to call and get a good education about what a particular model such as the J160E is going for. |
