BS: I love.....

20 Aug 04 - 09:59 AM (#1251964)
Subject: BS: I love.....
From: Jerry Rasmussen

I love that first deep lung full of fresh air when I step outdoors right after it rains.

I love it when cats try to look nonchalant when they know they've done something wrong

I love the opening power chords of Pinball Wizard

What do you love? Or who?

Jerry

My kitties, especially the Lazarus cat who wasn't supposed to make it past May.

The smell of wallflowers.

The smell of leather, especially when it's wrapped around the seat of a Kawasaki 550 or a Triumph Legend

The way Limpit sleeps - with total abandon, on almost any flat surface (as witnessed at many Mudgatherings) and with her eyes half open....

The taste of chocolate, especially the Belgian Cote d'Or stuff with the elephant on the label.

Meeting Mudcatters from overseas, and sharing with them.

Racing along a clear road with the windows open, the stereo on really loud or on the back of a Kawasaki....

Snuggling down in my duvet with a book and a cat.

Ellenpoly has it right Ebbie, any music that is so beautiful, touching or elemental, that it raises the hair on your arms or neck and causes a deep outrush of breath when the passage or song is complete.

I first heard it referred to as that, years ago, in a reference to the blues, but any genre can sometimes do it for me, even The Who's Pinball Wizard or Delibe's Flower Duet from Lakme, by a few artists.

Speaking of "hair-on-the-back-of-your-neck-harmonies", I was visiting York yesterday and took a look around York minster.
As I stared up at the beatufil ceilings, a choir, in another part of the building, began to sing.
This amazing, dis-embodied sound seemed to surround us and I just had to sit and let the wonderful accoustics of the minster wash over me.

A lovely moment.
