01 Nov 98 - 03:19 PM (#43838) Subject: HOMICIDE: Life On the Street From: pantleg I'm not a huge blues enthusiast, but I like watching NBC's Homicide: Life On the Street on Friday nites. It seems like every week they have some cleverly plot-related old school blues tune. Last week's was something about "you can't judge a book by lookin' at the cover" Did anyone see this episode and know the artist/song? |

02 Nov 98 - 10:02 PM (#43956) Subject: RE: HOMICIDE: Life On the Street From: Jenny I've watched "Homicide ..." since day one, even while living in Fairbanks AK, when it came on at 1 am Sunday night, and one of the things I've really enjoyed is it's music ... most down and dirty blues. Sure wish they would do an album of all the music played during the show. Jenny |

03 Nov 98 - 01:50 PM (#44030) Subject: RE: HOMICIDE: Life On the Street From: Susan from California Joe- Thanks for the links-the music is an integral part of the show & I can't tell you how many times I have wanted to know the names etc of the songs that are used so brilliantly. In SoCal it is on on NBC at 10pm on Fridays. I try not to miss it, in my opinion it is way better than Law & Order (Who writes their cop dialog anyway?) And folks, please excuse the typos and misspelling today-I had a very bad alergic reaction and am on mind numbing drugs...and to think that in my youth I used other stuff to acheieve this very stupid state :-} |
14 Jun 00 - 09:19 AM (#242295) Subject: You Can't Judge A Book From: GUEST,Andy Leader Around 1961 I heard John Hammond sing a song with the chorus, "I might look like a farmer, but I'm a lover, You can't judge a book by looking at its cover." Anybody have the rest of the song? It must be an old blues or rock and roll song. Thanks. |

15 Jun 00 - 04:26 AM (#242731) Subject: RE: You Can't Judge A Book From: GMT Brendy I saw the Rocky Horror show on stage for the first time last week and was blown away by the experience. The audience was as rehersed as the cast from what I could tell. The interplay and backchat was superb. Cheers Gary |

15 Jun 00 - 04:48 AM (#242735) Subject: RE: You Can't Judge A Book From: Brendy I know that this is probably inexcusable thread creep, but it ran in the 'Classic' in Dublin for 16 years, every Friday night. Funny thing about it was that if you were dressed 'normal', you looked out of place. I always liked the water pistols!!! B |
15 Jun 00 - 05:06 AM (#242737) Subject: RE: You Can't Judge A Book From: GMT A group of us went from my other halfs place of work (Police Headquarters !!!) WE were SO out of place. In the interval the toilets were uni-sex the girls used the cubicles , the boys the urinals. At the start when it rained the front 10 rows of the audience were soaked. To be honest there were some bodies that should have remained covered up but what the hey it was agreat night out. Cheers Gary
