Lyr Req: Junco Partner

Does anyone know the CORRECT lyrics to 'Junco Partner'? I have it sung by Dr John but cannot understand a word of it. Even my American friends gave up trying to decipher what the hell the Doc was singin' about. Also, who wrote it, and when, or is it Trad?

It's a genuine folk song. There are no correct lyrics. See the other thread.

Here's the other thread mentioned by mack/misophist:

I have no idea how old the song is, or if indeed *anyone* knows how old, but it is definitely "traditional" in the sense that everyone who sings it seems to inject a variation or two.

The subject matter always seems to involve intoxication on illegal substances as a way to pass the time while incarcerated, and there's usually a verse fantasizing about converting the prison grounds to a marijuana farm.

To restate what's on the liner notes: It's the 'national anthem' of the Angola Penetentiary. One inmate claimed to know 3000 verses. Inventing new verses was a rite of passage for new chums.
