Even closed threads can be re-opened so are not fully protected. However, I feel that the "year and a day rule" should apply. If a first posting has received no replies after a year and a day, it should be accorded one-post status forever. I have a lyric request out there that is almost two and a half years old and Mudcat, normally the fount of all knowledge, came up with nothing. I even tried repeating the request as a slight thread drift on the discussion of a similarly named tune – and promptly killed that thread stone dead. I almost made it again with a post on the 2002 Cleethorpes Folk Festival but someone used my post, just a few days short of the year and a day qualification date, to launch a very worthwhile discussion on the 2003 Festival. Who else can claim one-post threads under the "year and a day" rule ? |
