Dick/Max:

There were several songs that I posted lyrics to over the past few months which did not make it to the DT. Off-hand, I remember Miner's Refrain, Sweetest Gift a Mother's Smile and Walls of Time, and I'm sure there were more.

Are these going to be included, or were they dropped for some reason, or were they missed?

Dick, did you receive the 13 tunes I sent to your email about 48 hours ago? If not I will post one very large thread,

Newcomers may not find this too readily.

Hey, John in Brisbane, oh ye that posteth messages of phenomenal length, please don't. Better to break it up, one song per message. Thos long, long messages can get real messy. Oh, and don't jump the gun on the downloads, either - I don't think the PC version is available for download yet.
But your enthusiasm is inspiring...

Search for OCT98. That'll do it.

Thanks for the paternal advice Joe. I would still be interested in seeing if there's an alternative though (to posting individual threads). I doubt there are that many Mudactters who are as interested as you or I in dredging up crappy old Christmas songs just to fill a hole in the DT.

Picked it in one about downloading the DOS DT, was gonna do it about now. The Mudcat page says that it's available - is this one of Art's tall tales?

Regards as always
John

Hi, John - my point was that if there are several tunes in a single message, it's very hard for me to edit out problems, if they come up. Messages that are longer than about a page are hard to edit. Several messages within a single thread might be a good idea - and you can have various specific message titles to facilitate searching. Generally, Dick likes to see separate songs in separate threads, but I think he may not be so firm about that if you're posting a number of tunes for songs already in the database.

John- I received your E-mail, but haven't had time to look at it yet. In what format is it?

Great job, folks, I'm in awe of what you do. Curious, tho. why when I ask for OCT98 in the search engine is there a chunk of the list that is duplicates? maybe 30, 40 tunes with doubles?
Anyway, thank you ever so much for making this happen.
Blessings,
Barbara

I noticed duplicates of songs in the last online version of the database, Barbara, but not in the PC version. I'm pleased that you noticed the same thing, and it's not just me who sees double. Sometimes, the title in one link will be all caps, and in the other link it will be with just first letters of each word capitalized - so, I thought maybe it was just the links that were duplicated for one reason or another, and not the actual songs.

Joe, I went back and checked the main Mudcat page, and it says quite clearly that the Spring 98 version can be downloaded now. So, isn't it Spring 98 right now, he asks? I think so. but in Brisbane there isn't any visible difference between Spring and Autumn (Fall?) in the sub-tropics, and the only tree without leaves in my garden is a dead one.

OK, so I finally twigged (accidental pun) that Spring 98 was 6 or 18 months ago for you guys. I'll best get back to my basket weaving and wait until someone taps me on the shoulder to tell me that the October 1998 can now be loaded onto disc on my steam powered PC.

Regards
John

You made my day, John. I plumb forgot that you folks are getting out your bathing suits and beach blankets, while we're taking our overcoats out of mothballs. I got a good laugh out of our misunderstanding.
Well, our Spring 98 was wonderful. Hopy you enjoy yours. But the PC version of the database for late 1998 is not yet available, but should come out soon.

RE: Duplicates.

The answer is simple. I goofed. Will try to fix up next time.
