Hi All,
I was searching on Google and found references to Clint Howard and Fred Price in some of the chat threads. Although Fred passed away in 1987, Clint is still playing and has a couple of new albums out this year. They are locally made here in Mountain City, TN, USA. The Ballad Of Finley Preston is no longer available, but we are considering reissuing it on CD. Clint now plays with his son Clarence, Jack Proffitt on bass, sometimes Garet Howard, Clint's grandson, joins them on banjo and lately Kenneth Price, Fred's son, has been playing with them on fiddle and banjo. They just played a live 2 hour show in Galax, Va Saturday at the Rex Theater and will be playing at the Kruger Brothers Carolina in the Falls Festival on September 18th in North Wilkesboro, NC. Let me know if you are interested in hearing more about what Clint has been up to.

No, CLint Howard that played with Doc Watson and Fred Price and Clarence Ashley in the 60's and is still going strong. Like on The Old Timey Concert album.

A lot of people confuse the two Clints. The Clint I know is 73 and Ronnie's brother looks to be in his 40's. One has played old time music all his life and the other is an actor. Have you ever listened to old time music? Clint's rendition of Maggie Walker Blues is still considered to be one of the best ever done.

Linda, you have to excuse CLinton Hammond, he has been drinking too much MOlson or some other Canadian beer!Grin I am sure some folks will drip in to this thread who are fans of Clint Howard. Where is Mountain City? I am in north Georgia, so shouldn't be too far from me. A mudcat friend Wilco48 played in Galax a couple weeks ago so I guess we are sort of all close together.   GLad you stopped in. jimmyt

Thanks Jimmy,do you play music? Mountain City is in the NE corner of TN, between the VA and NC border. Small town, lots of great old time musicians. Galax is about a two hour drive from here. Clint is one of those musicians that plays for the love of the music and I'd like others to know he his still alive and going strong.

Right now the band is pretty unscheduled :) I have been working with Clint for about 9 months and have booked him at places like the Down Home in Johnson City, on Studio One (east tennessee state university's public radio station WETS)and in Galax, VA to name a few. Getting them to practice can be a booger, but they are getting such good responses from their performances, and the cds we have produced here have been selling well, so I think the band will become more scheduled in the future. You can e mail me at clint_howard@hotmail.com for more info if you would like.
