Another Australian song that I would love to have the words to. I can make out most of the words, but the chorus eludes me.
Thanks friends.

Kitty, why don't you put what you have up in the thread here.

PErhaps someone can help based on that.

Here you go:

JACKY HOWE, THE WARWICK GUN

Now you've heard of all the other shearers
The Ryebucks and the rest
Lachlan Tigers and old Flash Jack
But we all know who was best
In the bar at Lazy Harry's, mates
They shore sheep big as whales
And the bar was two foot deep in dags
As the crutchers told their tales.

But when it comes to hist'ry, mates,
When all is said and done
There's really just ONE champion
Australia's Number One
You ask any shearer
Who was best under the sun?
And he'll say: "The bloke from Queensland,
Jacky Howe, the Warwick Gun."

CHORUS: Yes, Jacky Howe from Warwick he's the Gun
Jacky Howe from Warwick, Australia's number one
His long blow is a certain pleaser,
CLIP - from the breezer to the sneezer
Jacky Howe from Warwick he's the Gun

Just you watch the Warwick Gun, mate
As he dives into the pen
Moves in fast, grabs his sheep
It's down on the boards and then
He whips off all the belly wool
His shears are moving quick
But he's got the knockers on his blades
And you can barely hear them click

After pointing out the spelling of Warwick, I see I managed to get Jacky wrong!

Kitty - since you appear to be asking for lyrics to Ted Egan songs you might like to look at his website: Ted Egan. Sadly I don't think there are any lyrics there, but there is a list of his CDs, tapes, videos and books.

Didn't get the second page:

Its hind leg, then the top knot
The neck is opened wide
Now he drops it on the long blow
Just watch those B-Bows glide
Down he comes on the whipping side
There's the fleece, it's done
And it's "Wool Away" shouts Jacky Howe
For he's the Warwick Gun
CHORUS

When the squatters tried to smash the shearers
In 1891
In the forefront of the unions
Jacky Howe, the Warwick Gun
They simply sought a decent rate
To shear the squatter's sheep
But for far too long the rage was strong
And enmities ran deep
But Jacky Howe's remembered

Not for politics, but speed
And throughout Australia's shearing sheds
They talk of one great deed
On 10 October '92
His tally, Three Two One
And ever since they've called him
Jacky Howe, the Warwick Gun
CHORUS

BTW, Ted Egan's name is found in a number of threads in the Forum.

If you go up to the Lyrics and Knowledge Search, and put Ted Egan in it, you'll be able to find all of those threads.
