BS: couple a' pologies

First to Martin Gibson. I think I mentioned the idea, way back, just as a rhetorical figure, of posting as you back when you were Guest Martin Gibson. I didn't mean to open that can of worms, and, I never did it. I meant to say so once before, then saw the thread about it. I think a person would have to be pretty helpless, childish, and wormy to really do something like that. I try to stick to the top of my head to make my point. It leaves me a limited arsenal, but I don't mind much.

I did once go so far as to hunt up some of your other posts, turned up more music related things, when we were arguing about something, and found them more interesting than whatever we'd been arguing about. I found the wmd's!--no, wait,it was just Martin's more personable, 3-dimensional side.

Second, to some Guest on a thread about anon posting. I think you were reading me wrong. I didn't mean ill to say you had an agenda, or sarcasm to wish you luck with it. I thought it utterly foolish, yes, but I didn't know you'd grok that. Whoops. Still--do agendas come with "decoder rings" and stuff? Huh? What does that mean? You had me pegged pretty well, then lost me. I don't know what you were talking about. Is one "paranoid" about things they don't care enough about to bother with? That's "apathy"--for which I meant to apologise. Sorry, I'm just saying, I don't know why the Guest thing matters so much. It does NOW, this time, because I'm bothered by misunderstandings in fun. And because my mind is degenerating.

Fred,

If that was for me, and I think it may be, not to worry. I am also the GUEST who remarked that he thought you were one of the better thinkers and writers on the 'cat, and that I enjoyed your posts very much.

IMO, you have nothing for which to apologize. But, if you feel you do, please consider it accepted, Fred.

Well, then maybe I misunderstood. Much the better. Thought it was fun.

Fred, if you were referring to the anon who posted this and this (note the pointy head resemblance), then I'm yer anon.

If I called you paranoid, you have my apologies.

What I am recalling though, was that I was pointing out (with humor) the delicious irony of the "let's be paranoid about anon guests" tendencies (and agendas) of certain Mudcat members (see Flame Warrior Xenophobe), who themselves are ill behaved twits playing the I'm a member posing as anon guest game.

The trolling and flaming that goes on here is wonderfully illustrated at the links above to a very talented illustrator's dead on interpretation of the social dynamics of chat forums, which reflect the dynamics of the forums themselves. If you'd like, I can tell the history of the forum with his illustrated examples, and I encourage everyone to try that. We wouldn't want to be stuck with a single official history of the forum, now would we?

But you know how it goes Fred. If I have to explain it to you...

Our grocery store has a pharmacy in it.

Lice shampoo, prescription for penicillin, lighter fluid.

Fred:

My decoder ring doesn't work anymore. Where can I get a new battery?
