Albuquerque's alternative weekly, The Alibi, had just published results of their annual haiku contest. Link here
to see all categories and results, here are a few that made me laugh and laugh...

category: Albuquerque

No need to signal.
Why should you exert yourself?
I can read your mind.
—Pamela Menter

category: best way to gently let your neighbors know that you can hear them doing it

Look, beds are on sale
at Sears. Maybe you can find
one that doesn't squeak.
—Ann Sanabria

Well, what do you know,
I just found an oil can.
Hey, you should keep it!
—Ann Sanabria

Man, am I tired.
I didn't sleep much last night.
Neither did you, eh?
—Ann Sanabria

category: best end of affair haiku

You hate perfection.
I hate the way your feet stink.
Go back to your mom.

Those are fun, SueB, thanks!

We had some fun ones awhile back, for error messages on the Internet: here;

and, for fun: clickety

Heat brings out the worst
Drivers zigging and zagging
Looking for a hearse!

I know Ann Sanabria...but I didn't think her mind tended that way...

Kat, your top link doesn't work.

I had some cute ones in a file here, but I can't find them. They're probably also on the thread you linked to.

Didn't want to start a whole new thread, but here is a haiku written by the cat:

You persecute me
With your out of tune scraping
Put the fiddle down!

and one written by the dog:

I am tortured by
the dissonant jangling of
your banjo playing.

Get a tuner, they
don't cost very much at all -
You don't have to guess.

and another one written by the dog:

Why are you angry?
You left it on the counter
just for me, correct?

and another one written by the cat:

Do not pick me up!
I do not want any love!
Love me, and regret.

two stolen from the Mandolin Cafe

Wary family cat
sniffs the mando cautiously.
"Are those strings of gut?"

Ah! The fragrant spruce
Hope nobody sees me sniff
My mando's soundhole......

Who are you? You say you know Ann Sanabria. Does Ann Sanabria know you?

My pet one (I didn't write it) is:

I could write of you
Perhaps make you immortal
But not in three lines

The poster "artbrooks", is, surprisingly enough, Art Brooks, of Albuquerque.

No duh, Art Brooks is Art Brooks. The problem is he claims to know me (Ann Sanabria), but I don't know him. My memory needs a little jog. So who is Art Brooks?

Ann Sanabria, there's a picture of Art on the "Member Photos & Info" page, but you have to be a Mudcat member to access that page. Membership is free, and you will no longer be in danger of having your posts deleted (by using the anonymous GUEST moniker without at least putting your name after it -- because there have been too many abuses of the "GUEST" feature by flamers). We invite you to sign up and become a Mudcatter!

Haiku; distilled thought.
Quintessence of ideas
linked in one stanza.

Classic poems of three lines
with seventeen syllables;
five, seven and five.

Cheers, Rowan

Whoa--haven't seen SharonA around in ages! How are you?

It sounds like someone has been googling her own name. Maybe googling Art is the next step to figuring out how you two intersect in the Albuquerque community.

Well, four years ago I recognized the name as someone I was acquainted with, but darned if I can remember now. At the time, I was a graduate student in history at UNM.
