19 Sep 04 - 05:21 PM (#1275851) Subject: RE: BS: An Official Mudcat Prayer From: Peace I started this in response to another thread. I think people can respond without a flame war. Hope so. Figure that with all the views here and all the philosophies, people may be able to arrive at something resembling a conclusion within a few years. Maybe the conclusion will be that there can be no conclusion. The religious/political stuff permeates the various threads anyway. Also, I tried to change the title before posting to read "Non-official Mudcat Prayer" but I see it didn't happen. Please feel free to delete this thread if it become accrimonious--and if I have got that wrong, remember that it's a poor individual who can only find one way to spell a word. "'m glad you got some comic relief from the thought, brucie, but I for one hope not to see such a thread or the results of one. As I explained to you once before, this is a very, very sore subject for a lot of Mudcatters, particularly me. ~Susan" Sorry. I didn't see this before I started the thread. Didn't realize that the normally complacent and understanding people on the 'cat would feel attacked by a thread of this nature. Please have the thread deleted with my blessing. Bruce M |

I thank you for the opportunity Mudcat gives for people to express themselves in whatever ways they wish...even if that expression is not the real person they are. I mostly thank you Lord for the music threads where lasting contacts are made and knowledge may be gained and imparted. Thank you |

19 Sep 04 - 05:49 PM (#1275878) Subject: RE: BS: An Official Mudcat Prayer From: McGrath of Harlow Bless us all, Bless us all, The long and the short and the tall. Bless all the flamers and bless all the trolls, And bless the poor buggers who try to control The fights and the fuss, and the feuds And that bloke from Chicago who's rude, And that pestilent gent who's persistantly bent On insisting the Mudcat's been screwed. Bless us all, bless us all, As we shout and we sing and we brawl We're well out of fashion, So sing it with passion, Yes, sing out my friends, bless us all. Bless us all, bless us all Though we're banging our heads on the wall Bless all the Mudcat's brigade of Joe clones, And thank God for Cletus, who lowers the tone, Bless all Bullshitters, who way down the page Keep bashing away in a rage. And bless the peacemakers, for doing their best To stop us from lynching anonynous guests. And bless all the folk who play musical chairs, They've been asking what folk is for years But we've not got a notion,, both sides of the ocean, So, sing out my friends, bless us all. Well, it's a kind of a prayer... |

Oh, I guess you know that, don't you? Lord, if it's not too much to ask, deliver me a real classy dame with long legs. Any color hair is okay, I ain't particular. Lord, I also need a bottle of whisky that stays half full all the time no matter how many drinks I pour, and a lighter that works every time. I realize this is a lot to ask, but I figure the squeaky wheel gets the grease, know what I'm sayin'? Lord, I would also like to find out who it was who mailed me the letter bomb. I would like to return him the favor. I got an idea who it could have been, but I'm not 100% sure, so help me out here. I figure it was either Eddie the loan shark, Louie the Lemur, or Pago from the North Side Boys. I do not wish to start up 3 gang wars simultaneous, so a little help from you on this would be handy at this time. Just one name is all I ask. Write it in the clouds. I am lookin' out the window right now... |

Re(e)spect is a word that we should remember, Respect your friend, the man/woman you don´t like or like, the word that they say and their faith . Normaly I don´t say much on those threads but it is sad to see some of you , write down words that can hurt week souls , we are diffrent from each other some are strong and others are not. I pray for you all , and send lots of love to you all , sometimes I have some sad times and i close me away from the world , but I always come back stronger than last, there are things that we are ment to do and we are drawn into to learn ,the life is not alway on track, sometimes some of us goes the to left or right. so be happy i think the life is to short to be so..... you know so lets be friends. I hope to see some of you In Portaferry N-Ireland. P.s Anam Cara- friend of the soul or soul friend, it´s a great word. All the best to you all Skarpi Iceland. |

22 Sep 04 - 11:41 PM (#1278832) Subject: RE: BS: A Non-Official Mudcat Prayer From: PoppaGator Numerous submissions to this and previous threads on this subject have been the lovely Peace Prayer of St. Francis of Asissi, along with various variations thereupon. ("Lord, grant me the serenity to... etc.") I would like to submit for your consideration the Digger Prayer of Hugh Romney (aka Wavy Gravy): "May the Baby Jesus Open Your Mind and Shut Your Mouth." No offense -- I'm not addressing ANY ONE of you personally! ;^) Indeed, one properly says this prayer as much for oneself as for others. |

23 Sep 04 - 03:41 PM (#1279309) Subject: RE: BS: A Non-Official Mudcat Prayer From: GUEST,jj "Om" is the universal sound, symbolizing the Infinite. It is like saying "Amen"...and derives from the same basic source of consciousness. "Shanti" means "peace". As such it is very similar to the Hebrew word "shalom" or the Arab word "salaam"...again because it derives from the same basic source of consciousness. Hindu prayers normally end by saying, "Om Shanti"...which is the same as to say "Amen, Peace". |
