Way back in the dark mists of time I recollect Hamish singing a rewrite of the old Teresa Brewer song .I think the first verse went

I wake up with an aching head - As Usual
I cant remember going to bed -As usual
And somewhere deep inside my brain
There seems to be an express train
And I promise not to drink again - As usual

Any one out there got the rest of the words to this ode to Sobriety ?

The drink (VP wine) in the second verse is sometimes Lanliq (or similar)

In the 3rd line substitute whatever the local ale is i.e. Boddies, McEwans etc

Giok - Gusto always was one of my favourite backing musicians . And Jim I even if you are but a Guest and not a proper member , Thanks for the words . Just goes to show , the clowns who say Guest posts shouldnt be allowed are PILLOCKS .

Well, looking for lyrics and came on this thread, I recall a verse that ended 'All of a udden I'm feeling fine, it's only 5 minutes to opening time, I'll start of with some cheep red wine as usual' anyone got the first bit??

Spotify have it by The Wayfarers - Im sure it's the same as the Hamish Imlach version I heard long ago.

Stumbled on this thread while searching for the author of this parody. I was a Wayfarer before they folded, but after the recording you mentioned Nutty. Glad to hear that the recordings are still used.
